Shares

Shares occur when a user redistributes your content to their own audience, either by reposting, retweeting, or sending it to others, making shares the most powerful organic reach amplifier on social media.

Why Shares Are the Most Valuable Engagement Type

When someone shares your post, they are personally endorsing it to their network. This is word-of-mouth marketing at digital scale. Unlike likes (private signal to the algorithm) or comments (visible on your post), a share actively moves your content to new audiences who haven't heard of your brand.

Types of Shares by Platform

  • Instagram: "Send Post" (DM share) and "Add to Story" (public reshare)
  • Facebook: Direct share to feed, groups, or pages
  • X (Twitter): Retweet (full reshare) or Quote Tweet (with commentary)
  • LinkedIn: Share with or without commentary to your own feed
  • TikTok: "Stitch" and "Duet" are platform-native share formats that create new content from yours

What Makes Content Shareable

Content gets shared when it delivers clear value to the sharer's audience. The most shareable formats are:

- Educational — Teaches something the audience will want to pass on

- Emotionally resonant — Funny, inspiring, or surprising

- Highly relevant — Timely, topical, or niche-specific

- Visually striking — Designed to stop the scroll

Tracking Share Impact

Some platforms (particularly Instagram) don't make share counts publicly visible, but they are available in your analytics. Aibrify surfaces share data from all platforms that provide it, giving you a clear picture of which content is being amplified organically.
