Before You Connect
Instagram publishing requires a Business or Creator account. Personal accounts cannot be connected to third-party publishing tools including Aibrify.
Check your account type:
1. Open Instagram and go to your profile
2. Tap the three-line menu → Settings → Account
3. Look for "Account type" — it should say "Business" or "Creator"
If it says "Personal," tap Switch to Professional Account and follow the prompts. Choose Business for brand accounts.
Instagram publishing also requires connecting via Facebook — Instagram and Facebook share the same API (Meta Business Suite). You'll need to have your Instagram account linked to a Facebook Page.
Connecting Your Instagram Account
- Navigate to Dashboard → Platforms
- Click Add Platform or the + button
- Select Instagram
- Click Connect via Facebook
- You'll be redirected to Facebook's authorization page
- Log in to the Facebook account that manages your Instagram page
- Select the Facebook Page linked to your Instagram account
- Grant the requested permissions (Aibrify needs posting and insights access)
- Click Continue to complete the authorization
Once connected, you'll see your Instagram account appear in Dashboard → Platforms with a green "Connected" status indicator.
Required Permissions
Aibrify requires the following permissions to manage your Instagram account:
- Publish content — To schedule and post on your behalf
- Read insights — To pull performance data into your analytics dashboard
- Manage comments (optional) — Required for comment moderation features on higher plans
Do not revoke any of these permissions after connecting, as this will break publishing.
Troubleshooting Connection Issues
"Account not eligible" error:
This usually means your account is set to Personal. Switch to a Business or Creator account and try again.
"No Facebook Pages found" error:
Your Instagram account needs to be linked to a Facebook Page. In Facebook, go to Settings → Instagram → Link Account to connect them.
Token expired:
Instagram access tokens expire periodically. If you see a "Reconnection required" warning in Dashboard → Platforms, click Reconnect and repeat the authorization steps.
What Happens After Connecting?
Once connected, your Aibrify team will:
1. Confirm the connection on their end
2. Start scheduling Instagram-specific content in your content calendar
3. Pull your existing follower count as a baseline in your analytics
Instagram typically starts appearing in your analytics within 24 hours of the first post publishing.
