Standard X/Twitter posts have a 280 character limit. X Premium subscribers get up to 25,000 characters. URLs in tweets are automatically shortened by X and always count as exactly 23 characters, regardless of the original URL length.

What Counts Toward the 280 Limit?

All text, spaces, punctuation, emojis, and mentions (@username) count. URLs always = 23 characters. Hashtags count at full length (#marketing = 10 chars). Media attachments (images, videos) do NOT count toward the limit.
